Modelling & Simulation of Complex Systems using GAMA Platform

The GAMA platform is developed from 2007 by a consortium of research institutes and university (led by IRD) to ease the development of agent-based models and to simulate them. GAMA has been developed with a very general approach and can be used for many applications domains. Some additional plugins had been developed to fit with particular needs. Examples of domain where GAMA is mostly present are transport, urban growth, epidemiology and environment.

GAMA is an open-source software that continues to grow, thanks to its application in many case studies and to an active community.

Modelling & Simulation of Complex Systems using GAMA Platform

Starting from an abstract model and basic agent-based knowledge, the talk will focus on evacuation modelling using GAMA. The goal of the talk is to give an example of the modelisation process on a concrete taken from a research project called ANR Escape. We start by explaining the thematic problems of evacuation and catastrophic event mitigation, how it has been modelled and finally translated into a multi-agent simulation of the studied socio-environmental system.

IoT & Big Data Analytics

The Internet of things (IoT) is the network of devices such as vehicles, and home appliances that contain electronics, software, sensors, actuators, and connectivity which allows these things to connect, interact and exchange data. One of the key learning platforms for IoT is the Raspberry Pi. The Raspberry Pi is a popular platform because it offers a complete Linux server in a tiny platform for a very low cost. In this talk, we will introduce these topics and cover how to use Raspberry Pi in collecting environmental measurement and submitting this information to a central server over the Internet.

IoT & Big Data Analytics

Machine Learning is an idea to learn from examples and experience, without being explicitly programmed. Instead of writing code, we feed data to the generic algorithm, and it builds logic based on the data given. The goal of the presentation is to give the most basic concepts of machine learning and data mining, followed by an introduction to Big Data Analytic. Some practical examples of applying machine learning will be given during the talk.

Hands-on Workshop

In a series of planned hands-on workshops, complex system modelling using simulation techniques will be discussed using an open-source ABM software, GAMA platform.
